Shemagh Hand-Tied in Jordan Tactical Scarf 50" x 50"
Shemagh Hand-Tied in Jordan Tactical Scarf 50" x 50"
From Jordan, comes this high-quality keffiyeh. The fabric comes from Saudia Arabia and the tassels and fringe are hand-tied by talented craftswomen in Jordan. This traditional hand-finishing technique called "hadab" can take 24-48 hours to complete the tassels on one keffiyeh.
Keffiyeh, or shemagh, is a one-sided embroidered scarf traditionally used as a Middle Eastern headdress. It was - and still is - used to protect people from the sun, dust, and sand. It's also used as a makeshift water filter. The thin fabric allows it to dry quickly. The pattern is said to represent fishing nets or ears of corn and dates back to ancient Mesopotamia. However, to me, it embodies the beautiful, mystical Bedouin and Arabian culture.
Handwash only.
