The pattern is said to represent fishing nets or ears of corn and dates back to ancient Mesopotamia. However, to me, it embodies the beautiful, mystical Bedouin and Arabian culture. The red thread is a vibrant red thread.

Keffiyeh, or shemagh, is what we call this square scarf traditionally used as a Middle Eastern headdress. It was - and still is - used to protect people from the sun, dust, and sand. It's also used as a makeshift water filter. The thin cotton blend fabric allows it to dry quickly.
